Breakthrough in the Myanmar Market

The Background:

  • - With the opening up of the Myanmar market in 2011, the construction and engineering industry has been growing leaps and bounds as the   country is building up its infrastructure to keep up with the growth of the economy
  • - The customer has been trying to enter the Myanmar market since 2014 without much success as they have not been able to identify the correct   group of customers to approach
  • - The customer wanted us to gather market research and intelligence to help him identify his ideal type of customer and the strategy to engage ¬†¬†them

The methodology:

- As Myanmar is a newly opened market, public data is limited online. Hence local research is done with the targeted industries through face to face interviews and telephone calls
- Collection of data from various media and public sources through our connections

The results:

- We identified that the breakthrough point he can achieve is through the transportation industry in Myanmar instead of the marine industry which he focus heavily on in Singapore.
- Through our identification of his ideal customers, he connected with them with our assistance. He managed to secure a quotation for 50 sets of his product on a first meeting with one of the potential customers we identified. This is by far the biggest order request in Myanmar for him all within a short span of 3 months of the project.
